POSITION SUMMARY

The Farm Operations Technician supports daily farm activities through hands-on field work, equipment operation, and land stewardship. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining farm equipment, assisting with crop production, and supporting irrigation and nutrient management systems. The technician also contributes to conservation practices that promote soil health, habitat improvement, and sustainable land use. In addition, the position assists with routine livestock care and helps maintain safe, clean, and well-functioning farm facilities. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors while supporting a variety of farm operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma

  • Experience:

    • Operation and maintenance of farm equipment

    • Animal husbandry

  • Licenses or Certifications:

    • Driver’s license

POSITION DETAILS

  • Status: Full-Time

  • Schedule:

    • Monday through Friday

    • 7:00am - 3:30pm, with overtime as required

  • Wage Grade: Starting pay is based on experience.

  • Location: Hixton, WI

Primary Job Functionns

  1. Operate and maintain tractors, mowers, skid steers, and other farm and land management equipment safely and efficiently.

  2. Perform daily inspections and routine preventative maintenance including lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, and basic adjustments.

  3. Identify mechanical issues early and assist with troubleshooting, repair, or coordination of service.

  4. Perform field work including planting, seeding, cultivation, mowing, harvesting, and land preparation.

  5. Monitor crop and plant health and assist with corrective actions as needed.

  6. Assist with regenerative and conservation practices such as cover cropping, no-till planting, frost seeding, and native prairie establishment.

  7. Apply soil amendments and support field improvements to enhance soil health and productivity.

  8. Operate and maintain irrigation fields and related water distribution infrastructure.

  9. Apply and manage nutrients in accordance with established nutrient management plans and environmental standards.

  10. Assist with routine livestock care including feeding, watering, bedding, and monitoring animal health and behavior.

  11. Maintain animal enclosures, fencing, and pasture areas to ensure safe and healthy conditions for livestock.

  12. Implement land stewardship practices including erosion control, invasive species removal, tree planting, and habitat enhancement.

  13. Maintain trails, access lanes, and managed land areas across the property including snow removal.

  14. Follow all safety protocols and environmental compliance requirements.

  15. Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly maintained equipment.

  16. Support other farm or property operations as needed during seasonal or project-based work.

  17. Comply with worker safety, biosecurity and food safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  18. Demonstrate the Company’s Core Values in the performance of all job functions.

  19. Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.

  • Ability to follow instructions, safety protocols, and established procedures

  • Basic observation and data collection skills, including note-taking and simple recordkeeping
